Danielle Nance wears her many hats well.Whether it's the coach hat, the friend hat, the student-athlete hat or the "I've got to work to pay the bills" hat, the 19-year-old Redding Christian High school volleyball coach is able to shift gears with the same deftness and prowess that made her a prep volleyball standout.

It all started in the late 1980s when Ken Papini of Redding decided to install a croquet course in his yard to keep the brush down. He didn't want the poison oak coming back and he needed a bigger fire break.

'Tis the season to run your legs off. Each autumn, from St. Paul to Seattle, tens of thousands of runners wrap up a year of training with a 26.2-mile run. I ran my requisite annual marathon this past weekend, pacing at just under eight-minute miles in the Twin Cities Marathon to pull my best personal time to date at 3 hours, 27 minutes.
