Church displays creche exhibit

According to Saint Bonaventure's "Life of St. Francis of Assisi," the saint visited the town of Greccio, Italy, for Christmas in 1223. When the town's church was too small to hold the attendees, he moved midnight mass to a "niche in the rock" where he set up the altar and a scene that re-enacted the birth of Christ. According to Italian lore, a Christmas tradition was born.

Glass artist's playful work on exhibit at college

Clif Sowder may no longer be teaching class, but he's still got plenty of glass.Sowder, a well-known fixture at Shasta College for 36 years, established a glass blowing program there and taught glass art to hundreds of students. As he taught, he created his own art, and it is that work on exhibit at the Shasta College Gallery.
