1908
A lease was secured on the John Craddock building and the quarters occupied by the Dreamland Theatre in Redding. The theater would be enlarged and renovated as a first-class playhouse. The presentation house would not only book road shows, but also continue hosting moving-picture attractions that have been such a hit in Redding.
1958
U.S. Plywood in Anderson announced the purchase of Mutual Plywood Corp. in Eureka. USP Shasta division heads would spend part of their time on the coast until the operation was coordinated.
1983
The State Office of Historic Preservation awarded a $40,000 matching grant to the city of Redding for its planned weatherization of Old City Hall. City officials said the money would be used to repair the roof and fix the brick fa<0x00E7>ade of the 77-year-old Market Street landmark.
1998
A broken gas pipe shut down Eureka Way when road construction workers hit an underground Pacific Gas and Electric line. Traffic was blocked for five hours after a B&J Paving Inc. backhoe operator accidentally snagged the underground line.
