South side of Sacramento River Trail closed for re-paving

Trail to stay open weekends during construction

Pavement work will keep the south side of the Sacramento River Trail closed Monday through Friday starting today, according to a city of Redding press statement.

The weekday closures will last until Oct. 31, barring rain delays. The trail will open weekends.

J.F. Shea Co., Inc. crews will repair shoulders and repave the river trail with asphalt-concrete between the Diestelhorst and Stress Ribbon bridges.

Hopefully they do a better job with this than they did with I-5. Otherwise, the trail will be full of potholes and huge dropoffs near the bridges and take 6 months to fix. :P

Thanks for letting us know - they did a great job with the north side and I expect the same for the south side where the roots and pot holes are much worse than they were on the other side. I'm happy to train elsewhere for a couple weeks and enjoy the smoooooth trail for a long time to come.
