The women's team from Redding representing the USTA Northern California Section, finished second at the USTA League presented by Chrysler 3.0 Adult National Championships over the weekend at the Randolph Tennis Center in Tucson, Ariz.
The Redding team lost to a team from Seattle 1-4 in the championship match. Earlier in the day, the Redding team defeated a team from Winchester, Mass., 3-2 in the semifinals. They advanced this far by winning their round-robin flight contested Friday and Saturday.
The team is captained by Holly Paget and features Mary Kepon, Kelly Hicks, Aimee Adams, Laura Kuh, Michele Duval, Megan Spinka, Lois Chambers, Jo Campbell, Nadya Rowan, Anya Polen, Shelli Stahl, Joanne Saleh, and Tenley Ellison.
The top four teams in order of finish are: Pacific Northwest (Seattle, Wash.), Northern California (Redding), Eastern (Clifton, N.J.) and New England (Winchester, Mass.).
This year's USTA League presented by Chrysler 3.0 Adult National Championship has drawn the top 34 teams (17 men's and 17 women's) from throughout the nation.

Butte Valley 40, Liberty 8
Richard Asdourian scored on a 2-yard touchdown run with 1:24 left in the game for the Patriots lone score.
The score was set up by a 25-yard run by Chance Egure. Quarterback Cameron Cargile added a two-point run for the Patriots (1-5).
