Old Oregon Trail near Bear Mountain Road reopened early Friday after crews fixed a downed utility pole that had been sheared in a traffic crash that injured the vehicle’s driver.
Officers and medical personnel responded to a report of a sport utility vehicle hitting the pole about 11:10 p.m. Thursday on Old Oregon Trail at Crescenta Drive.
The driver’s side door was torn off and the driver was thrown from the vehicle, Redding police Sgt. Casey Bokavich said.
The unidentified man was found about 75 feet from the crash.
“The male driver sustained extensive internal injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for further care and evaluation,” Bokavich said.
The crash remains under investigation.
