Brett Heiner, 19, shot this buck on Sept. 21 at his aunt’s and uncle’s Rutherford Ranch in Bella Vista. It dressed out at 130 pounds and had a 16.75-inch spread. Heiner is having the buck mounted.

Nice buck. Have not seen a California buck like that in a long time

That is a great buck. It's nice to see our local paper still acknowledges our local outdoor and hunting heritage.

Where do I get a ticket to hunt there? LOL! Nice job and way to go! Amen to 6Gen! Good to see acknowledgement of our Constitutional Rights!

I saw five or six bucks just like the one in the photo near the Redding Airport/Epperson Flea Mart yesterday. They were all in a group.

Little deer, big antlers. What do they have in the water in Bella Vista?

"Have not seen a California buck like that in a long time".
Good thing he "got it" because we may never SEE one like that if we kill them when we do see them. It's the hunter's dilemma. I'm an ex hunter.

YOU are an ex-hunter bombillo??????????????????????
After all your anti-hunting posts...????
Hmmmm.

Frigid,
I've gotten religion. Great grandfather came to California in 1895, my grandfather was killed while steelhead fishing on the Klamath in 1930, Dad had a ranch from 1954 to present, bought my own in 1989. Dad's den has photos of he and I with a hundred dead animals. I am not proud of that and I am trying to raise others consciousness about it. In fact, the young fellow in this picture here could have been me 40 years ago. My message is to try and appreciate wildlife, not kill it. I am not a communist.

I appreciate wildlife. I actually study it for a living. I respect your point of view and your endeavor to inform people of your stance. Some people hunt for the meat and that is a hard argument to make in my opinion.
But hey. That's why we are here in this glorious country. Freedom. Choice. Belief.
Lots of em'
respec' bom.

This is my nephew and I could not be any prouder. This is a heck of a nice deer, he gutted it, cleaned it and took care of the meat the way it should be done. He is going to have it mounted and for years to come he will be able to relive this hunt.

You know, if you happen to be lucky enough to fullfill that million dollar tag, venison is one of the leanest meats you can get. It is not only leaner than beef but cheaper too.
