UPDATED: Some road closures lifted, other remain in place

Highway 36 West was reopened at 11 p.m. Wednesday but Highway 32 remains closed from its junction with Highway 36 near Deer Creek in Tehama County down to Butte Meadows near Lomo in Butte County due to wildfires, a spokesman for the California Department of Transportation said this morning.

Officials have no estimate on when the road will be reopened.

The closure on Highway 70 has been moved to five miles west of Pulga at Big Bend Road in Butte County to its junction with Highway 89 at Greenville Wye in Plumas County due to falling rocks and fire activity.

All other state roads and highways in north state are open.

I am wondering the same thing... on my way there this weekend...i checked the KRCR traffic site and it says its open, but that there may be a delay in weaverville between 1000-1400 hours...for a special event, but that there is a detour.

Does anyone know if there are restrictions to boaters on Lake Shasta this holiday weekend? I'm not sure if there would be some sort of conflict between boaters and all the planes picking up water. Also, does anyone know about campsites around Shasta? We'd like to have a normal-as-possible holiday weekend, but obviously don't want to be in the way if firefighters are staging in camping areas ...

It's open now, but an evacuation may take place this afternoon in Big Flat if the fire moves to 299. It may be closed later today.

Just checked the Caltrans website and other than the detour they posted ending 1400 hours on 7/4/08...it appears to be open. You can also call 1-800-427-7623 to up-to-minute info for roads.
